About Cory

Cory Silkman earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2012. He completed his legal studies at a school known for producing lawyers active across the state, and left law school prepared for courtroom work and client counseling alike. His legal education provided grounding in research, writing and the procedural skills lawyers rely on every day.

He joined Tydings and Rosenberg LLP in 2013 as an associate lawyer. During his time there he worked on a range of matters typical of a regional firm, handling client communications, drafting pleadings and briefs, and supporting more senior attorneys in discovery and hearings. That early phase of his career gave him exposure to the practical demands of managing client files and meeting court deadlines.

In 2017 Silkman moved into private practice under the name Silkman LLC. Establishing a small firm changed the day-to-day rhythm of his work. He took on responsibilities beyond casework, overseeing the practice itself and making decisions about which matters to accept. Running an independent practice also meant deeper involvement in strategy and direct client counseling from intake through resolution.

Throughout his career Silkman has practiced in Maryland. He is familiar with the state’s courts and procedures and handles matters arising under Maryland law. His background includes both the resources of a larger firm and the flexibility of a smaller office. That combination has shaped how he approaches legal problems: practical, procedural and attentive to the client’s objectives.

Colleagues and clients have described him as attentive to detail. He balances the procedural side of litigation with a practical sense of what clients need to move a matter forward. He spends time on legal research and on preparing written work that courts and opposing counsel can rely on. He also places importance on clear communication about process and expectations.

Silkman’s career path — law school, an associate role at a regional firm, then his own practice — is a familiar arc for many lawyers, but it also reflects choices about the kind of work he wanted to do. He continues to practice from Silkman LLC and represents clients in matters arising in Maryland.
