About Cornelius

Cornelius Murray began his legal career in Philadelphia government service in the late 1990s. In 1998 he served as an Assistant District Lawyer for the City of Philadelphia, handling injury matters on the city’s behalf. That role put him inside municipal systems early in his career and gave him regular exposure to claims involving public entities and urban courtroom practice.

After several years of public-sector work, Murray moved into private practice. In 2004 he became a partner at Sheridan & Murray, a Philadelphia law firm. The change brought a shift from representing a city government to working directly for individual and institutional clients. As a partner he has helped guide case strategy, supervised younger lawyers, and managed the day-to-day operations that keep a small firm functioning.

Murray’s background is rooted in injury law. He carried experience from his time with the city into his private practice. That history informs how he evaluates cases and prepares them for resolution, whether through negotiation or formal litigation. Colleagues describe him as steady in court and methodical in discovery. He has handled matters that required coordination with medical providers, insurers, and municipal agencies.

The Philadelphia legal market is competitive, and Murray’s practice has developed in that context. Over the years he has balanced court appearances with client meetings and file management. He has overseen trials and settlement discussions, and he has trained newer attorneys at the firm. Those responsibilities reflect the mixed demands of modern litigation work: paper and procedure, witness preparation, and the stamina of courtroom work when cases proceed to trial.

Outside the courthouse Murray’s professional life is focused on running a small firm and keeping clients informed through often-complex processes. He has been at Sheridan & Murray since 2004 and remains based in Philadelphia. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and continues to accept matters that draw on his experience in injury-related cases.

As of 2026 Murray maintains an active practice at Sheridan & Murray, handling injury matters and related litigation for clients in the Philadelphia area and across Pennsylvania.
