About Corey M.
Corey M. Nichols moved from classrooms and sports pages into the courtroom. He began his adult working life in retail and education before turning to law. That path gives him a mix of practical experience and skills he carries into litigation work.
Nichols earned a B.A. in English and Education from the University of Charleston in 2008. He taught AP English literature and coached middle school basketball at Cornerstone Christian Academy in 2009. While in law school he spent time as a writer for Kentucky Sports Radio and served as a summer law clerk at Steptoe & Johnson in 2012. He completed his J.D. at the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2014.
After law school Nichols remained active outside traditional firm roles. In 2015 he worked as a regional finance director for a statewide political effort. He entered private practice the next year, joining Michael L. Hawkins & Associates in 2016. He continued to build trial experience and courtroom time, then moved to Apollo Law Office in 2021. In 2022 he took on a senior litigator position at Barrow Brown, PLLC.
Those varied stops show a practical approach to litigation. Early responsibilities—management at Blockbuster, teaching, and campaign finance oversight—left him comfortable with deadlines, client interaction, and high-pressure situations. As a lawyer he has handled matters that require courtroom preparation and advocacy. He is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association.
Colleagues describe Nichols as methodical in preparing cases and direct in oral argument. He favors careful fact development before making tactical choices. He is based in Kentucky and litigates in state forums. He currently practices at Barrow Brown, PLLC. His work centers on civil litigation and trial work in Kentucky.
