About Christy L

Christy L Theander earned her J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 2012 after beginning law school in 2009. She finished a three-year course of study and entered the legal profession at a time when elder law and disability planning were becoming more prominent issues for aging families. Her legal training provided a foundation in both transactional and procedural work.

A year after completing law school she took a leadership role at Graham & Theander, PLLC, becoming a partner in 2013. That move established her as a regular presence in her local legal community. She has practiced from the same firm since then and has built a practice that touches on matters many families face as loved ones grow older or incur disabling conditions.

Her memberships reflect the areas she works in. She belongs to the Disability and Elder Law Lawyer Association and to the National Academy of Elder Law Lawyers. Locally, she has been active in the Fort Bend County Bar Association and the Katy Bar Association since 2013. Those associations provide professional contact and continuing education opportunities tied to elder and disability law.

Her day-to-day work includes counseling clients about options for long-term care, preparing estate planning documents, and addressing benefits eligibility questions. She advises families on planning that can affect eligibility for public benefits, and she prepares documents intended to help manage financial and medical decision-making when capacity becomes an issue. She also assists in matters that arise in probate and guardianship systems.

Colleagues describe her as steady and pragmatic in client meetings. She often meets with families who are making difficult choices under time pressure. Her approach is to clarify legal options and to draft the necessary documents so clients can make informed decisions. She also works with other professionals, including financial advisors and care providers, when cases require coordinated attention.

Since 2013 she has practiced as a partner at Graham & Theander, PLLC. Her current practice concentrates on elder law, disability planning, and related estate matters.
