About Christopher Montes de
Christopher Montes de Oca has spent more than two decades in and around courtrooms. He opened his own practice in 2006 and maintains offices in Los Angeles, Whittier and Long Beach. He is admitted to practice before courts including the U.S. Supreme Court, the District of Columbia, the Ninth Circuit and the state of California.
He began his academic path at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts. He went on to law school at Western State College of Law at Argosy University and later completed an MBA at Argosy University. The combination of legal and business training informs how he handles client matters and runs his firm.
Montes de Oca launched the Law Offices of Christopher Montes de Oca in 2006. He has managed the firm since then, handling litigation and case preparation while overseeing the business side of the practice. He completed the Plaintiffs Trial Academy run by the Consumer Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, a program aimed at improving courtroom skills for plaintiff attorneys. That training is a recurring part of how he prepares for trial work.
His professional activity reaches beyond his firm. He has been chair of the Government Relations Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Barristers since 2015. Prior to that, he served as president of the Long Beach Bar Association Barristers from 2014 to 2015. Those roles have put him in regular contact with local judges, elected officials and other lawyers on procedural and policy matters affecting litigators.
Colleagues describe him as practical and straightforward; clients often say they appreciate clear explanations about options and likely outcomes. He balances case strategy with attention to how litigation affects a client’s business or personal life. He runs a small office structure that emphasizes hands-on involvement in each case, rather than delegating major decisions.
Today he continues to operate the Law Offices of Christopher Montes de Oca from his Southern California locations. He practices civil litigation and represents plaintiffs in consumer-related matters and trial disputes.
