About Christopher M
Christopher M Combs built a legal path that begins in the classroom and moves quickly into the courtroom. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and operations management from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2008. Four years later he completed his law degree at Saint Louis University School of Law, graduating in 2012.
His first legal experience at the appellate level came as an intern for the Missouri Court of Appeals in 2012. That role gave him early exposure to appellate procedure, brief-writing and the pace of judicial decision-making. After law school he joined Rosenblum Schwartz & Fry in 2013, where he worked as a lawyer and continued to gain hands-on experience in litigation and client representation.
Over time Combs shifted his practice to private firm work in St. Louis. He now practices at Combs Waterkotte, where he handles matters that arise in state court and before local tribunals. His background includes trial preparation, court appearances and client counseling. He has experience managing the logistical and strategic demands that come with contested cases.
Combs maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. Those memberships place him in regular contact with the local criminal defense bar and the broader legal community in the St. Louis region. He also supports recovery-focused efforts as a donor to the National Peer Recovery Alliance.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing records and straightforward in court. He spends time on the practical work: drafting pleadings, conducting investigations, and preparing witnesses. He has worked on matters that require both courtroom advocacy and negotiation. Where cases demand research and written argument, he draws on the appellate experience he gained early in his career.
Outside the office he remains connected to the procedural and professional networks of the region. That network helps in tracking local rules, recent decisions and practice developments that affect everyday litigation and client strategy.
He currently practices law at Combs Waterkotte and represents clients in matters arising in Missouri state courts and related proceedings.
