About Christopher Hugh

Christopher Hugh Daniel combines a law degree and a business degree. He earned his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2011 and returned to academics for an MBA from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2016. The two degrees shape how he thinks about cases and clients; legal analysis paired with business sense figures into his approach.

He is licensed to practice in Alabama and is admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. Those credentials allow him to handle matters that arise in state courts and to pursue appeals at the highest federal level when necessary. Over the course of his career, he has worked on matters that require courtroom presence, written advocacy and strategic client counseling.

He is active in his professional community. He holds membership in the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Greater Birmingham Criminal Defense Lawyers and the American Bar Association. Membership in several local and national groups keeps him engaged with peers and current developments in criminal law practice.

Clients and colleagues often describe him as attentive to procedural detail. He prepares filings, examines evidence and argues motions. He also spends time on case strategy and on explaining options to clients. Those tasks are routine in criminal defense practice, where small procedural choices can change outcomes.

Daniel’s academic path gave him both traditional legal training and additional business education. The J.D. provided the foundational skills of legal research and advocacy. The MBA added coursework in management and finance, which he has applied to client planning and case management. That combination informs how he approaches complex files and allocates resources during litigation.

Outside the courtroom, he maintains ties to professional organizations and follows developments in criminal law. He participates in continuing legal education and engages with peers in the Birmingham legal community. That involvement helps him stay current on case law and practice trends that affect clients in Alabama.

He practices criminal defense in Alabama and is available to pursue appellate work that reaches the U.S. Supreme Court when appropriate. His current practice focuses on criminal defense matters in state and federal courts.
