About Joseph
Joseph Pace built his path through two of the country's oldest halls of learning. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from Harvard University in 2006 and later received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 2010. Those credentials set the stage for a career that has moved between courtroom practice, research, and public interest work.
He began his legal career in the federal courthouse. In 2011 he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Laura Taylor Swain in the Southern District of New York. That clerkship was followed by a stint in private practice as a litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in 2013. He then accepted a fellowship in public interest and constitutional law at Gibbons PC in 2014, and in 2015 joined Reprieve as senior legal counsel. In 2017 he worked as a senior legal researcher for LR Solution and in the same year launched his own firm, J. Pace Law.
Across those roles he has handled work that required close legal research, appellate briefing, and district-court litigation. His background includes courtroom preparation, drafting extensive motions and briefs, and advising on matters that cross jurisdictional lines. He has argued the mechanics of federal litigation and research-intensive projects in both private and nonprofit settings. Those experiences have shaped a practice style that balances detailed written advocacy with case-management habits suited to contested proceedings.
Pace is admitted in New York and holds admissions across numerous federal courts and circuits, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th and 11th Circuits, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is a member of the State Bar of New York, where he has been active since 2011, and maintains membership in the American Bar Association.
His practice at J. Pace Law, which he founded and leads, continues to combine litigation and appellate work with deep legal research. He handles matters across federal and state forums and works on cases that require careful briefing and procedural strategy. He maintains an active practice focused on litigation and appellate advocacy.
