About Chip
Henry G. "Chip" Bachara is the managing partner of Bachara Construction Law Group, a firm he founded in 2007 in Jacksonville, Florida. With a background deeply rooted in the construction industry, Chip has dedicated his legal career exclusively to construction law. He earned his Juris Doctor from Mercer University School of Law in 1986 and holds a Bachelor of Building Construction from the University of Florida, obtained in 1982. Before establishing his own firm, Chip gained experience as an associate and partner at several Jacksonville law firms, including Bedell, Dittmar, DeVault & Pillans and Baumer, Bradford & Walters.
His practice focuses on many construction disputes, representing clients such as government entities, private developers, contractors, and insurers. He is Board Certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar and serves as an arbitrator and Florida Supreme Court-Certified mediator for complex construction disputes. Chip's contributions to the legal community are significant. He has been AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 1991 and has been recognized multiple times in Florida Trend’s Legal Elite, Florida Super Lawyers, and Best Lawyers in America. Notably, he has been named Jacksonville’s “Construction Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in America for several years, including 2012, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2024, 2025, and 2026.
Beyond his legal practice, Chip has been actively involved in various professional and community organizations. He served on the Judicial Nominating Commission for Florida’s Fourth Judicial Circuit for 11 years, including two terms as chair, during which he conducted nearly 500 candidate interviews and facilitated the appointment of 33 judges. He has also been a trustee of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce (JAX Chamber) and a member of the Urban Land Institute. His leadership roles extend to the American Subcontractors Association, where he serves on the board and chairs the Attorneys Council. Chip's commitment to excellence is further demonstrated by his recognition as a Florida Super Lawyer for 20 consecutive years, a distinction he has held since the inception of the designation.
He has also been listed among Jacksonville’s “Top 25 Super Lawyers” since 2021. His firm, Bachara Construction Law Group, has been recognized as a Tier 1 construction law firm for the Jacksonville metropolitan area by U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Chip and his wife, Carrie, have been married for over 30 years and are the proud parents of a daughter and a son.
