About Chesley

Chesley Oriel has practiced law in Massachusetts for decades. He is based in Framingham and has maintained an active presence in the state's legal community since the early 1970s. His career spans both transactional work and matters that touch on land use and property disputes. He is a familiar name among practitioners who handle local real estate matters.

Oriel earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. After law school he joined the Massachusetts legal bar and has been a member of the Massachusetts State Bar since 1970. That long membership marks a steady legal career tied closely to Massachusetts statutes, court procedures and municipal practice.

Over the years Oriel expanded his involvement in specialized professional groups. He has been a member of the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts since 2000. That affiliation tracks with much of his practical work. His file work and courtroom appearances often reflect issues that real estate practitioners face: title questions, closing irregularities and contested land use matters.

In day-to-day practice Oriel handles a mix of transactional and contested matters. His work includes title examination, drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, conducting closings, and reviewing and preparing leases. He also addresses zoning questions and represents clients in smaller-scale property disputes. He is comfortable in both the office and the courthouse, moving between document-intensive tasks and court appearances when cases require it.

Colleagues and clients have known him as someone who understands local practice. He has kept up a steady presence in professional circles through the Massachusetts State Bar and through the Real Estate Bar Association. Those memberships have kept him engaged on changes in property law and local practice norms.

Today Oriel continues to practice from Framingham, serving clients across Massachusetts. He handles matters that arise from property transactions and local land use issues. His current practice focuses on real estate and related matters in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
