About Charles M. Campo

Charles M. Campo Jr. built his legal foundations in New England. He earned his B.S. from Boston College and then took his law degree at New England Law | Boston. A later course at Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation added formal training in bargaining and dispute resolution to his toolkit.

He holds admission in Massachusetts and before several federal bodies. Those credentials include the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. That range of admissions reflects a practice that crosses trial, appellate and tax forums.

Campo’s career path has traversed courtroom work and transactional matters. He has handled filings in federal district court and has courtroom responsibilities that follow from his admissions. His training in negotiation influences how he approaches settlements, hearings and client meetings. He balances fact-gathering with legal analysis, then tests theory against opposing positions.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing a file and direct when presenting arguments. He structures work to identify key legal issues early. That allows him to prioritize what will matter most if a dispute proceeds to motion practice or trial. He also prepares for appeals, readying records and briefing issues that may travel to the First Circuit or higher courts when necessary.

His practice includes tax-related litigation because of his standing before the U.S. Tax Court. That work often requires close attention to statutory interpretation and administrative record review. He pairs courtroom procedures with negotiation techniques learned through the Program on Negotiation, which informs settlement discussions and alternative dispute steps.

Outside formal hearings, he spends time counseling clients on risk, compliance and dispute avoidance. He aims to be precise in advice and clear in options. When cases proceed, he moves from counseling to case management and litigation tasks.

Campo maintains an active practice across the jurisdictions where he is admitted. He continues to accept matters that require representation in Massachusetts state and federal forums, tax proceedings and appellate review. His current practice focuses on litigation, tax matters and appellate work.
