Chadwick L. Mills is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1999. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Mills is a partner at Cooley LLP, a law firm specializing in corporate and securities law, with offices in Palo Alto, California. He has been practicing law for over 26 years, serving clients throughout the state.
Mr. Mills earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly Hastings College of the Law), graduating in 1999. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1996.
Mr. Mills concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate and securities law, with a particular focus on representing public life sciences companies. He provides ongoing compliance and strategic advice to biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies, as well as their boards of directors, on a range of securities, corporate, and investor outreach matters. His expertise includes financial reporting and disclosure issues, shareholder engagement and activism, securities offerings, and corporate governance matters. He has worked with numerous public life sciences clients, including BioMarin Pharmaceutical, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, and Seagen.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mills has represented issuers in more than 30 public company financings and initial public offerings over the past five years. Notable transactions include advising BioMarin Pharmaceutical on its $720 million public offering of common stock, assisting Seagen with a $552 million public offering of common stock, and guiding Jazz Pharmaceuticals through a $575 million aggregate principal amount of exchangeable senior notes. He is admitted to practice before all courts in California.
Mr. Mills is an active member of the State Bar of California. He has been recognized by his peers and was selected to Rising Stars for 2012–2013. He is fluent in English and serves clients throughout California.
