About Carson Epes

Carson Epes Steinbauer trained as a political scientist before turning to the law. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from Hollins University in 1991 and completed his Juris Doctor at St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1994. Those academic years set a practical foundation for a career concentrated in family law.

After law school Steinbauer established his practice in Texas. He is admitted to practice in that jurisdiction and has been active in the state's legal community. Over time he has focused on matters that commonly appear in family courts: dissolution of marriage, property division, custody and visitation, and enforcement proceedings. His work balances courtroom work and negotiated resolutions.

In 2016 Steinbauer achieved board certification in Family Law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. That credential marks a formal recognition of experience and knowledge in the field. The same year he joined the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists and remains an active member. Those affiliations place him among attorneys who pursue continuing education and peer review specific to family law practice.

Steinbauer practices at Shackelford, Bowen, McKinley & Norton LLP. At the firm he handles family law matters alongside colleagues who cover related civil litigation. His day-to-day work includes preparing pleadings, conducting hearings, and advising clients on settlement strategy. He appears in state court and participates in mediations and collaborative law processes when cases are steered away from trial.

Outside of casework Steinbauer has participated in professional gatherings and membership activities tied to family law. He has kept current on statutory changes and appellate decisions that affect custody standards, community property principles, and spousal support. Those efforts inform how he evaluates cases and counsels clients.

Steinbauer's practice draws on courtroom experience and practice-oriented professional engagement. He is licensed in Texas and remains active in local legal circles while continuing to represent clients in family law matters. He concentrates his practice on family law matters.
