About Justin Barrett
Justin Barrett Wilson built his foundation at Baylor University, where he earned a B.A. as a University Scholar and followed that with an M.A. in Communication Studies. He then turned to law, completing a J.D. at SMU Dedman School of Law. His academic background blends liberal arts, advanced communication training and formal legal education.
He began practicing in public service. In 2013 he served as an assistant district lawyer in Collin County. That early work placed him in courtrooms and on case dockets, where he handled a range of criminal matters and learned how prosecutors prepare cases.
In 2016 he moved to Rosenthal & Wadas, PLLC as a criminal defense lawyer. The switch to defense work expanded his perspective. He represented people facing charges and took on pretrial work, plea negotiations and hearings. His time at the firm exposed him to the practical differences between prosecution and defense.
In 2020 he opened the Justin Barrett Wilson Law Office and listed his roles as lawyer, mediator and owner. He also holds a certification in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing from NHTSA. That training informs how he approaches impaired-driving cases and evidence rooted in roadside evaluations. He lists mediation among his services, suggesting an interest in resolving disputes outside of trial when appropriate.
Wilson maintains professional ties in the legal community. He is a member of the Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Those connections keep him engaged with local practice issues and peers who handle similar matters.
Today he operates his own practice in Texas, representing clients in criminal matters and offering mediation services. His work draws on years in both prosecutorial and defense roles, formal communication study and practical courtroom experience. His current practice focuses on criminal defense and mediation.
