About C. Kevin

C. Kevin Leonard built his legal foundation at the University of New Hampshire, where he earned a B.A. in political science in 1984, and later returned to the same campus to complete his J.D. at the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 1990. He moved into practice during an era of shifting workplace law and steady local change. That background shaped a steady career in New England courts and barrooms.

He is licensed to practice in both New Hampshire and Connecticut. In 1997 he became a partner at Douglas, Leonard & Garvey, P.C., a role he has held for decades. The partnership followed years of courtroom and client work, and it placed him in a firm where he could combine trial work with case management responsibilities. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in hearings and methodical in case preparation.

Professional associations have played a consistent role in his career. He joined the New Hampshire Bar Association and the Merrimack County Bar Association in 1993 and has maintained those memberships since. In 2000 he became active with the New Hampshire chapters of broader trial and employment organizations. He has been involved with the New Hampshire Association for Justice since 2000 and has held membership in the National Employment Lawyers Association’s New Hampshire chapter since the same year. During his time there he served as chapter president, a post that put him in regular contact with fellow employment attorneys across the region.

His caseload has reflected those affiliations. Much of his practice has centered on employment-related disputes and civil litigation that arise from workplace conflicts. He has handled matters that require both advocacy before judges and negotiation at the table. That mix of litigation and client counseling has been a throughline of his work since becoming a partner.

Outside court dockets, he has remained engaged in professional circles where lawyers exchange updates on precedent and procedure. He has kept a steady presence in the local bar and in state-level associations that focus on employment issues and plaintiff practice. He continues to practice at Douglas, Leonard & Garvey, P.C., where his work centers on employment law and related civil litigation.
