About Bryan J.
Bryan J. Chant built his academic foundation at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he earned a Bachelor of Science. He went on to law school at William Mitchell College of Law and completed his J.D. before beginning a varied legal career that has spanned private practice and in-house roles.
He entered private practice soon after law school. In 2007 he served as an associate lawyer at Griffel & Dorshow, Chartered. That early position offered courtroom exposure and client work typical of a small firm setting. Two years later he moved into an in-house role at Liberty Mutual Group. There he took on the title of Regional Counsel in the Special Investigations Unit, a post he assumed in 2009. The job combined legal analysis with investigative matters and required coordination across claims and litigation teams.
After his time at Liberty Mutual, Chant returned to the private bar. In 2016 he is listed as a lawyer with LeViness, Tolzman & Hamilton P.A. That move marked a return to firm practice after years of handling insurance-related disputes and investigations inside a major insurer. His résumé shows a path that alternates between firm-side litigation and corporate legal work, giving him exposure to both client-facing responsibilities and internal risk control.
Chant holds admissions in multiple jurisdictions. He is licensed to practice in Maryland and also maintains admissions in South Dakota and North Dakota. He joined the State Bar of Maryland in 2016 and remains a member. That membership corresponds with his practice in the state and reflects ongoing engagement with Maryland’s regulatory framework for attorneys.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and precise in his legal writing and case preparation. He has experience handling matters that require careful fact development and close attention to procedural detail. The mix of in-house investigative work and courtroom experience has shaped an approach that balances factual inquiry with legal strategy.
Today Chant practices in the Maryland bar and keeps active credentials in the Upper Midwest. His background in the Special Investigations Unit informs work on insurance-related matters and civil disputes, and he continues to represent clients in matters that draw on both his investigative and litigation experience.
He currently concentrates his practice on insurance-related matters and civil litigation.
