About Bruce W.
Bruce W. Laverty built his legal foundation at Widener University Delaware School of Law, where he earned his J.D. in 1989. He returned to West Chester University of Pennsylvania for graduate study, completing a Master of Public Administration in 2009. His undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Accounting from West Chester University, earned in 1980. The mix of law, public administration and accounting has informed a career that spans trial work, appellate filings and service in local government.
He has practiced law for more than three decades. Early in his career he became a partner at Laverty, Muth & Reed in 1993. That partnership evolved; he joined Valocchi, Fischer & Laverty, LLC as a partner in 1998. In 2010 he helped establish Laverty Law Offices, LLC, where he remains a partner. Over the years he has handled matters in state and federal tribunals and taken on appellate work in higher courts.
His admissions include the Pennsylvania bar, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He also holds membership in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the United States Tax Court. Those credentials reflect a practice that has touched on both trial and appellate procedure and on federal forums.
Outside the courtroom he has been active in bar leadership and community governance. He served as a township supervisor for West Bradford Township from 2002 to 2009. He has been a visible presence in Chester County’s legal institutions, serving on the Chester County Bar Association’s executive board in the early 2000s and later as its president beginning in 2006. He took on the presidency of the Chester County Bar Foundation in 2007, a role he continues to hold. He was a barrister in the Honorable John E. Stively, Jr. American Inn of Court from 2000 to 2009, and served on the Chester County Bar Foundation board from 2000 to 2008.
He is a certified mediator through the Community Dispute Settlement Program and has used mediation as one of several avenues for resolving client disputes. His memberships include the Pennsylvania State Bar, the Chester County Bar Association, the Chester County Bar Foundation and the Pennsylvania Association for Justice.
Those who work with him will find an attorney experienced in courtroom work, appellate filings and dispute resolution. He is a partner at Laverty Law Offices, LLC, and his current practice concentrates on litigation, appellate representation and alternative dispute resolution.
