About Bruce J.

Bruce J. Wagner built his legal foundation in New York. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University in 1982 and completed his J.D. at Albany Law School in 1985. Those years set the stage for a career centered on family and matrimonial law.

Soon after law school he joined McNamee Lochner P.C. He became a shareholder there in 1987 and has remained associated with the firm for decades. His practice has covered cases that require appearances in both state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice in New York and Massachusetts and is authorized in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of New York, and the District of Massachusetts.

Wagner’s professional associations reflect a long-standing investment in matrimonial practice. He is a certified fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 1992 and of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 2003. Those fellowships require peer review and are commonly held by lawyers who handle complex divorce and family law matters. He has served on the New York State Office of Court Administration Advisory Committee on Matrimonial Practice since 1998, a role that has involved advising on court procedures and practice points related to family law.

Locally, he has been active in community and professional leadership. Since 2010 he has served as president of the Rensselaer County Magistrates Association. He has been a member of the Collaborative Divorce Association of the Capital District since 2008 and maintains membership in the New York State Bar Association. These memberships indicate continued engagement with alternative dispute resolution and collaborative approaches alongside traditional litigation.

Over the years Wagner has moved fluidly between negotiated settlements and contested proceedings. His admissions to several federal districts broaden the jurisdictions in which he can represent clients, though most of his work is rooted in state matrimonial courts. He has combined court practice with committee work and association leadership, spending time both at the negotiating table and in advisory settings.

Today he continues his practice at McNamee Lochner P.C., handling matrimonial and family law matters. He divides his time between courtroom representation, collaborative cases, and advisory work tied to matrimonial practice.
