About Brian
Brian Langley built a legal education that spans trial advocacy, dispute resolution and social science. He earned both a J.D. in Law & Business and an LL.M. in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Washington University School of Law. He also holds graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville: an M.A. in Sociology & Criminology, a B.A. in Economics and a second B.A. in Psychology & Sociology. Those academic choices reflect an interest in the overlap between law, human behavior and institutional systems.
His early career mixed government service and courtroom exposure. In 2005 he served as a federal law enforcement agent under the Department of Homeland Security in an 1811 capacity. He later gained experience inside the legal system as an intern at the Illinois Supreme Court/ARDC in 2014. He went on to practice as an associate at a family law office in 2017. In 2020 he opened Langley Law Office, LLC, taking on leadership of a small practice and managing day-to-day operations.
Langley holds a certification as a Guardian ad Litem and practices in both Illinois and Missouri. He belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, the St. Louis County Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and the Tri-City County Bar Association. Those memberships reflect active engagement in the local and national legal communities and provide forums for continuing education and professional exchange.
His background in alternative dispute resolution and his courtroom experience inform how he approaches cases. He has worked on family law matters and custody-related proceedings, and he draws on mediation training when parties seek negotiated outcomes. Clients encounter a lawyer who is comfortable in hearings and also familiar with processes aimed at resolving disputes outside the courtroom.
Since founding Langley Law Office, LLC, he has overseen a practice that handles family law, custody and guardianship matters. He represents clients across his admitted jurisdictions and uses his ADR training and guardianship certification when those tools are appropriate. He currently focuses on family law, custody and guardianship matters and alternative dispute resolution in Illinois and Missouri.
