About Brian Joshua

Brian Joshua Paul combines scientific training and legal training in a practice that bridges two worlds. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida before turning to law and completing a Juris Doctor at Stetson University College of Law. The move from laboratory coursework to legal coursework shaped the way he approaches technical legal problems.

After law school, Paul entered private practice and by 2019 was working as an associate at Christopher & Weisberg, P.A. He has built experience advising clients on matters that intersect law and science. Colleagues say he applies a methodical approach to document preparation and case analysis, a tendency that traces back to his undergraduate concentration in the life sciences.

Paul is admitted to practice in Florida and is registered to appear before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Those credentials allow him to handle matters that require both legal drafting and an understanding of technical invention. He often works on patent-related tasks that require translating scientific ideas into claims and specifications that meet statutory and procedural requirements.

His background in biomedical sciences informs how he evaluates invention disclosures and counsel clients on protectability and prior art. He reviews technical materials, prepares patent applications, and interacts with examiners to resolve procedural and substantive issues. He also assists clients in considering strategic options for protecting intellectual property as they move technologies from laboratory concept to commercial product.

Paul maintains current memberships in professional associations relevant to his field. He has worked alongside litigators and transactional lawyers at his firm, which has broadened his exposure to different types of client needs. The combination of technical training and a law degree has made him a resource for clients whose matters require an understanding of both legal doctrine and complex technical detail.

He is based at the Christopher & Weisberg, P.A. office and continues to handle intellectual property matters, particularly those that draw on his life sciences training. He currently practices patent preparation and prosecution for clients in the life sciences and related technologies.
