About Brian G.

Brian G. Thompson began his path in law after completing undergraduate studies at Towson University in 1992. He earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1996. Those years shaped his understanding of procedure and the practical demands of courtroom work.

He served on active duty in the United States Army in 1984 and later in the United States Army Reserve in 1986. Military service came before law school and left a visible imprint on his approach to discipline and careful preparation. After law school he entered public service, working as an assistant state’s lawyer in Baltimore County in 1994.

Within a few years he moved into private practice and by 1998 was named a senior partner at Silverman Thompson. He has remained at the firm since then. Over decades he has divided his time between trial work and representation in court. That steady presence at the same firm has meant long-term relationships with other lawyers, judges and clients across Maryland.

Thompson is admitted to practice in Maryland and before the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. He holds memberships in several professional organizations: the Maryland State Bar Association, the Maryland Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect the practical demands of trial litigation and criminal defense.

His background includes work on both sides of the courtroom. Time as an assistant state’s lawyer gave him insight into prosecutorial practice. Years in private practice have provided the opposite perspective. He focuses on trial preparation, witness examination and the procedural tasks that shape outcomes at trial. Peers describe him as steady and methodical in court. Clients tend to value direct answers and clear preparation.

Thompson’s career spans courtroom roles, military service and long-term private practice. He has balanced institutional knowledge with hands-on litigation. He has developed a practice grounded in trial work, representing people and entities in state and federal proceedings. He currently practices at Silverman Thompson, representing clients in Maryland and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, primarily in criminal defense and trial matters.
