About Brett

Brett Abernathy completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, earning a Bachelor of Science in 2012 in a program combining law and psychology. He entered William H. Bowen School of Law in 2014 and received his J.D. in 2017. Those years shaped his understanding of both the human dynamics and the procedural rules that inform everyday legal work.

After law school, Abernathy gained admission to the Arkansas bar in 2017 and has maintained membership in the State Bar of Arkansas since then. He moved quickly from the classroom into practice. Over the course of his career he has worked inside a firm environment that serves clients across multiple offices, establishing the steady routines of client intake, case preparation and courtroom readiness that most Arkansas attorneys know well.

His legal activity has remained rooted in Arkansas. He represents clients under the state’s laws and handles the kinds of matters that come before local judges and administrative bodies. He approaches each file as a distinct task: review the facts, identify the relevant statutes and rules, and set a practical path forward. That pragmatic sequence guides how he prepares filings, counsels clients and negotiates with opposing parties.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in his file work and attentive to procedural detail. He spends time drafting clear pleadings and assembling evidence in a way that anticipates the questions a judge or opposing counsel might raise. He also places value on explaining options to clients in plain terms. He avoids legalese when a straightforward explanation will better serve a client’s decision-making.

Outside of the office, Abernathy’s continued membership in the State Bar of Arkansas keeps him connected to ongoing professional education and the shifting contours of state law. That connection helps him stay current on rule changes and court decisions that affect the practice of law in Arkansas.

He is based at wh Law, where he works from the firm’s offices to manage cases and advise clients. He currently practices at wh Law, handling legal matters in Arkansas.
