About Brandy Meyer
Brandy Meyer Andersson is a dedicated family law attorney based in Kirkland, Washington. With a legal career that began in 2002, she developed her expertise in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and domestic violence cases. Currently, she serves as a Senior Attorney at McKinley Irvin, a prominent firm specializing in family law, which has established offices in both Kirkland and Bellevue. Her commitment to family law is evident in her experience and the breadth of her practice. Brandy earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2001, equipping her with a solid foundation in legal principles.
She further advanced her education by obtaining a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of Washington School of Law in 2002. This additional qualification enhances her understanding of financial matters often intertwined with family law cases, such as asset division and tax implications during divorce proceedings. Before joining McKinley Irvin in 2023, Brandy spent several years as a felony criminal prosecutor, where she developed strong litigation skills. Transitioning to family law, she worked at the Eastside Legal Assistance Program (ELAP), providing critical support to domestic violence survivors and helping them secure safety and resources for their children. In her private practice, Brandy has also served as a Guardian ad Litem, advocating for children's best interests in custody arrangements.
This role has allowed her to deeply understand the details of family dynamics and the importance of prioritizing children's welfare in legal decisions. Her involvement in various capacities demonstrates her commitment to ensuring that vulnerable populations receive the representation they need. As an active member of the Washington State Bar Association since her admission in 2001, Brandy stays connected to the legal community and continuously seeks opportunities for professional growth. In 2024, Brandy was appointed as a Pro Tem Commissioner for the King County Superior Court Family Law Court, a role that shows her expertise and respect within the legal community. Her dedication to pro bono work is recognized; she was included in the Washington State Bar Association's 2022 Pro Bono Publico Honor Roll for providing at least 50 hours of pro bono services that year.
This recognition highlights her commitment to giving back to the community and supporting those who may not have access to legal representation. Brandy's practice encompasses many family law issues, from general divorce to child support, parenting plans, and post-decree matters such as enforcement and modifications. While she is a skilled litigator, she prioritizes seeking fair and equitable resolutions outside of court whenever possible.
