About Brandon Alexander
Brandon Alexander Thomas built his legal foundation at Emory University, where he earned a J.D. in 2010 after completing a B.A. in political science at the State University of New York at Albany in 2007. He entered law school following a steady course of academic and public-service interests. Early internships complemented his classroom work and introduced him to both administrative and private practice settings.
His early legal experience included a 2009 clerkship at Graham & Penman, LLP and a legal internship with the Federal Aviation Administration’s Office of Regional Counsel. In 2010 he served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Donna N. Dawson at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and began work at a plaintiffs’ law firm. Those roles exposed him to federal administrative processes and civil litigation practice.
By 2012 Thomas had moved into public defense work in Georgia. He volunteered in the Stone Mountain and Clayton Judicial Circuit public defender offices and joined the Eastern Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office first in the Early Intervention Program and then on its Superior Court Trial Team. His trial work at the state level led to a federal public defender position in Montgomery, Alabama in 2015, where he represented clients in federal court.
In 2017 he established The Law Offices of Brandon A. Thomas, P.C. The firm marked a return to private practice while drawing on his prior public defender and federal defender experience. He is admitted to practice in Georgia and Illinois, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and to several federal district courts including the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia and the Northern District of Illinois.
Thomas maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He belongs to the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA-GA), the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Stonewall Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect the mix of employment-related and criminal-defense issues that have recurred across his career.
Colleagues and clients describe a lawyer who moves between courtroom work and courtroom preparation with equal attention. His background spans administrative internships, plaintiffs’ litigation, state-level trial defense, federal defense, and private practice management. He continues to handle matters in state and federal courts and maintains practice in areas that draw on both his employment-law exposure and his criminal-defense work.
He currently practices at The Law Offices of Brandon A. Thomas, P.C., handling civil and criminal matters in state and federal courts.
