About Bill

Bill Grauer graduated from Cornell University in 1971 with a B.A. in Government and earned his J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1974. Those years framed his early interest in law and public affairs. He moved from classrooms into courtrooms at a time when federal litigation was expanding in scope and complexity. The combination of an Ivy League undergraduate degree and a Cornell law diploma set a traditional foundation for a long legal career.

He served as Senior Counsel at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP. At that firm he worked on matters that required coordination across state and federal venues. His role combined case strategy, client counseling and managing litigation teams. The title of senior counsel reflected a transition from courtroom practice to an advisory position within a large firm environment.

Over the decades Grauer handled matters in a wide range of federal courts and appellate panels. His practice record includes matters in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the Northern District of New York, as well as district courts across California and Arizona. He has been involved in proceedings connected to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Central, Eastern and Northern Districts of California, the Eastern District of New York, and the District of Arizona. On appeal, he has worked on issues in the Second and Ninth Circuits, and his practice extended to matters implicating the United States Supreme Court. Those venues speak to a practice that crossed regional lines and federal-state boundaries.

Grauer is admitted in both New York and California. That dual admission has allowed him to handle cross-jurisdictional disputes and to advise clients whose matters touched multiple legal systems. He has balanced casework that required attention to procedural detail with broader questions of federal jurisdiction and appellate strategy. His work has often required collaboration with trial teams and specialists in other legal fields.

Now based in New York, Grauer continues to handle federal litigation and appellate matters. He draws on decades of courtroom and advisory experience while working from the firm office in New York. His current practice centers on managing complex federal cases and appeals across the jurisdictions in which he is admitted.
