About Bill D.
Bill D. Bensinger earned his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2003 and later completed an M.A. at St. John’s University School of Law in 2005. Those years of study gave him a mix of doctrinal training and additional graduate work that informs how he approaches problems. He spent his early career building a practice rooted in the standards taught at law school and shaped by the rules of the Alabama bar.
After law school and graduate study, Bensinger moved into private practice and progressed to firm leadership. He is a shareholder at Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC. In that role he has responsibilities that include client counseling, handling matters on behalf of businesses and individuals, and participating in management decisions at the firm. His title reflects a senior position within a national law firm structure and regular involvement in case strategy and client relations.
Bensinger maintains active membership in the Alabama State Bar and the American Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in Alabama. Those memberships tie him to the professional rules and continuing education standards that govern lawyers in the state. Colleagues and clients encounter him in contexts where bar ethics and procedural rigor are important, and he operates within those institutional frameworks.
In daily practice he combines litigation and transactional tasks as required by client matters, moving between courtroom preparation and contractual work. He has handled disputes and counseled clients through complex legal processes, often coordinating with teams inside the firm. He also participates in internal firm governance typical for a shareholder, including mentoring junior lawyers and contributing to case staffing decisions.
Today Bensinger practices from Baker Donelson, working on matters that arise under Alabama law and related federal issues when they intersect. He continues to hold active professional memberships and to work on cases and transactions that require experienced counsel. His current practice focuses on representing clients and advising on legal matters in Alabama.
