About Benjamin N.
Benjamin N. Philley graduated from the University of Mississippi with a B.B.A. in 1998 and earned his J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law in 2004. He completed his legal education at a time when the pace of litigation in Mississippi was quickening. Those formative years shaped a practical approach to law and client work.
He began his professional career at Wise Carter Child & Caraway upon finishing law school in 2004. The early period at a larger firm gave him exposure to a range of civil and commercial matters and to courtroom procedure. In 2008 he moved to Langston & Langston, PLLC, where he continued to refine trial skills and case preparation practices. A year later he joined Kilpatrick & Philley, Lawyers at Law, where he has practiced since 2009.
Philley is admitted to practice before the Mississippi Supreme Court and in federal courts including the Fifth Circuit, the Southern District of Mississippi and the Northern District of Mississippi. He also maintains membership in the Mississippi state bar. Those admissions allow him to appear in both state and federal forums and to follow matters through pretrial proceedings and appellate review when necessary.
Outside courtrooms, he belongs to several professional associations. He is a member of the American Association for Justice and the Mississippi Association for Justice. He also holds membership in the Hinds County Bar Association and the American Bar Association, in addition to the Mississippi State Bar. These affiliations keep him connected to continuing education and local bar activities.
Over the course of his career Philley has worked on a range of matters that required litigation and courtroom work. He has handled cases at multiple stages, from initial filings through motions and hearings. Colleagues and opposing counsel have encountered him in state and federal dockets across Mississippi.
He maintains a practice at Kilpatrick & Philley, Lawyers at Law. His current work centers on representing clients in proceedings in Mississippi state and federal courts.
