About Anthony Douglas
Anthony Douglas Edwards built a legal path that ties formal study to local practice. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Information Technology from Capella University in 2003, a Master of Water Resources from the University of New Mexico in 2007 concentrating on water rights and policy, and a Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico in 2009, where his coursework emphasized business, estate and natural resources law. The sequence of degrees maps onto the kinds of disputes and transactions he later handled.
His early years in practice led him to southwestern Colorado. In 2010 he opened San Juan Law Office, LLC and began representing clients on matters ranging from property transactions to administrative water proceedings. That same year he joined both the Colorado Bar Association and the Southwest Colorado Bar Association. He also pursued continuing education related to digital evidence, completing Georgetown University Law Center’s eDiscovery Academy program.
Public service has been part of his resume. In 2015 he served as a San Juan County Judge in Colorado. He also sat on the board of the Region 9 Economic Development Association from 2012 through 2015. Since 2015 he has held membership in the Sedona Conference, an organization that convenes practitioners and academics to discuss complex litigation and discovery issues.
Edwards holds admissions in Colorado and New Mexico and is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the District of Columbia Circuit. Those credentials have allowed him to handle matters in state and federal forums. His training in water resources and natural resources law, combined with a business background, informs how he frames disputes and negotiates settlements.
At his office listed as 1099 Main Avenue, #409, he continues to run his practice, maintaining a mixture of litigation and transactional work. He counsels clients on water rights, natural resources questions, business matters and estate-related issues. His practice life combines courtroom appearances, administrative hearings and negotiated resolutions.
He currently handles cases involving water rights and natural resources, business and estate matters across state and federal venues.
