Antavius M. Weems is the managing partner of The Weems Firm, P.C., located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. He has been practicing law in Georgia since 2001, focusing on family law, business law, and civil litigation. Weems earned his Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law in 2001. Prior to law school, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's in Social Work from Clark Atlanta University. During his tenure at Michigan State University College of Law, he served as President of the Wolverine Student Bar Association/Black Law Student Association and was instrumental in re-establishing connections with African American alumni. Before founding The Weems Firm, Mr. Weems worked as an attorney with Fulton County, focusing on child advocacy in juvenile court, representing the best interests of children in cases of deprivation and neglect. He also served as an attorney with the City of Atlanta, representing the city in criminal preliminary hearings and trials.
Acted as the liaison for the City Solicitor to the State Legislature, concentrating on legislation affecting the city's legal standing in criminal matters. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Weems is actively involved in community service and professional organizations. He has served as the ninth President of the Georgia Alliance of African American Attorneys, one of the largest bar associations in the state. He has also been a member of the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, and the Gate City Bar Association. His community involvement includes serving as Board President of Keeping My Kids, Inc., and as Chair of WestCare Georgia, Inc.
Mr. Weems has been recognized for his contributions to the legal field and community. He was named one of Georgia's "Top 40 Lawyers Under 40" by the Fulton County Daily Report in 2005 and 2009. He has also been honored with a personal day, "Weems Day," on March 26th, by his alma mater, Michigan State University College of Law. Fluent in English, Mr. Weems continues to serve clients in Atlanta and throughout Georgia, offering legal services with a focus on family law, business law, and civil litigation.
