About Angie Iglesia
Angie Iglesia Martell is the founder and managing partner of Iglesia Martell Law Firm, PLLC, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. With over 30 years of legal experience, she has developed a holistic practice encompassing criminal law, family law, business law, estate planning, and civil rights. Her firm serves clients across Washtenaw County and beyond, offering comprehensive legal services tailored to individual needs. Ms. Martell earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the City University of New York Law School. She also holds a Master’s in Media from the New School for Social Research and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature from New York University.
Fluent in Spanish, American Sign Language, and Portuguese, she effectively communicates with diverse communities. Licensed to practice law in Michigan, New York, and Massachusetts, Ms. Martell is an active member of the State Bar of Michigan, where she serves as Chair of the LGBTQ Law Section. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Washtenaw County Bar Association, and the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association. Her commitment to social justice is evident through her past roles, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Bar Association and as a cooperating attorney with Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund. Throughout her career, Ms.
Martell has been dedicated to advocating for marginalized communities, including the LGBTQIA, Spanish-speaking, and Deaf communities. In 2014, she received the Washtenaw County Bar Association’s Martin Luther King, Jr. "I Have a Dream" Award for her outstanding service and dedication to building trust between the community and the legal system. In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Martell is a certified mediator and has completed extensive training in domestic relations mediation, general civil mediation, and domestic violence screening. She is also a certified Reiki Master, reflecting her approach to law and conflict resolution.
