About Andrew S

Andrew S Cabana combines business training and advanced litigation study in a practice that spans trial and appellate work. He began his academic path at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business, earning a Bachelor of Science before turning to law. He earned his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law and completed an LL.M. in Litigation and Dispute Resolution at The George Washington University Law School.

His legal education set the stage for a career centered on courtroom procedure and appellate technique. Cabana is admitted in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia and holds federal admissions that include the Fourth Circuit, the D.C. Circuit and the Federal Circuit. Those credentials allow him to operate in both state and federal systems and to take matters beyond trial courts when needed.

Over the course of his practice, he has handled matters that require attention to written advocacy and oral argument. He prepares briefs, drafts motions, and presents arguments at the appellate level as part of broader litigation strategies in trial courts. His LL.M. study sharpened his approach to dispute resolution and reinforced an emphasis on procedural precision and case preparation.

Clients and colleagues often look to him to manage complex litigation timelines. He works on litigation that moves from fact development to dispositive motions and, where appropriate, to appeals. That work includes organizing the record, coordinating expert testimony, and shaping appellate narratives that rely on a clear statement of the issues and applicable law.

Cabana’s practice draws on experience in multiple forums. He files and defends claims in Virginia and Maryland state courts and in D.C. He also litigates in federal district courts and handles appeals in the circuits where he is admitted. His presence in those courts reflects a practice comfortable with procedural rules at different levels and sensitive to the distinct demands of trial judges and appellate panels.

Outside the courtroom he maintains the background study that supports written advocacy. The mix of a business degree, a J.D., and an LL.M. informs how he evaluates damages, contract disputes, and procedural posture. He approaches each matter by assessing both immediate litigation tasks and longer-term appellate possibilities.

Cabana currently concentrates on litigation and appellate work across state and federal courts, applying his litigation training and appellate experience to the cases he accepts.
