About Andrew

Andrew Piela built his legal foundation at Boston College. He graduated with a B.A. in 1991 and returned to earn his J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1994. Those years set the stage for a career spent largely in New England.

He began practicing soon after law school and spent much of the next two decades at Hamblett & Kerrigan. He joined that firm as an associate in 2005 and was named a director in 2010. The progression reflected a shift from junior case work to broader responsibilities inside the firm, including supervising other lawyers and helping manage client matters.

In 2022 he moved to Shaheen & Gordon as counsel. The change brought him into a different firm environment and into a role that emphasizes advisory work and case strategy. Colleagues describe him as steady and pragmatic. He approaches legal problems in a methodical way and places value on clear communication with clients and opposing counsel.

Piela is admitted to practice in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He has been a member of the Massachusetts State Bar since 1996. Those admissions allow him to represent clients across state lines in the Northeast and to handle matters that touch multiple jurisdictions.

Over the years he has worked on a range of matters and handled both litigation and transactional work. He has experience managing case dockets, preparing pleadings and briefs, and participating in settlement negotiations. He also has experience in the internal operations of a law firm from his time as a director, which informs how he allocates resources and staffs matters today.

He lives and practices in New England and has maintained a steady presence in regional legal circles. He now serves as counsel at Shaheen & Gordon, where he handles a range of legal matters across Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
