About Andrew Harry

Andrew Harry Berg earned his B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Florida in 1989 and completed his J.D. at Emory University in 1992. Those years set the academic groundwork for a career that spans courtroom work, mediation rooms and arbitration panels. He followed law school with a steady accumulation of professional memberships that reflect both regional and procedural breadth.

Early in his career Berg established ties to the Massachusetts bar. He has held membership in the Massachusetts State Bar since 1998. He also practices in Rhode Island and maintains involvement in that state’s legal community through the Rhode Island Bar Association and the Rhode Island Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Over time he expanded into alternative dispute resolution, taking on roles outside traditional litigation.

Berg serves as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and belongs to the Rhode Island Mediators Association. Those positions place him on both sides of the dispute table. He resolves contested matters as a neutral, and he defends clients when cases move to court. His membership in criminal defense circles indicates regular work defending accused individuals in state matters. At the same time, his arbitration and mediation work brings him into civil and commercial disputes.

Across two states Berg’s practice reflects the split demands of advocacy and problem-solving. He appears in Rhode Island and Massachusetts proceedings and participates in ADR panels, often switching hats from advocate to decisionmaker. That variety requires attention to procedure and to the differing rules that govern courtroom and alternative forums.

His current professional base is Sammartino & Berg LLP. There he practices alongside colleagues who handle a range of criminal and civil matters. He also continues to accept arbitration and mediation appointments, balancing case work with neutral appointments when called upon.

Colleagues describe him as someone comfortable in both jury trials and negotiated resolutions. He remains active in bar groups and ADR organizations and draws on more than three decades of experience since law school. Berg’s work today centers on criminal defense and dispute resolution through litigation, arbitration and mediation at Sammartino & Berg LLP.
