About Amy R.
Amy R. Fochler built a legal foundation in political science and communications before turning to law. She graduated from Hope College in 1992, and later earned her J.D. from DePaul College of Law in 2000. Those years set the stage for a career that has moved between public service and private practice.
Early in her career she took a position at the Department of Veterans Affairs. In 2006 she served as counsel at the Board of Veterans Appeals. The job put her inside the agency that decides countless disability and benefits disputes for veterans. It also gave her a close view of how claims are processed and how decisions are crafted at the appellate level.
After her stint at the Board, Fochler moved back into private practice. She worked as a lawyer at Jan Dils, Lawyers at Law in 2012. Two years later she began operating under her own firm name, Amy R. Fochler, Veterans Law Lawyer LLC. Her path shows a common arc among veterans law practitioners: time inside the system followed by advocacy on behalf of veterans navigating that same system.
Fochler is admitted to practice in Colorado. She is also admitted to the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and holds accreditation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Those credentials allow her to represent veterans in administrative settings and before appellate bodies that review VA decisions.
Her work centers on veterans benefits and appeals. She represents clients at the Board of Veterans Appeals and before the appellate court that reviews VA rulings. Her background at the VA Board informs how she evaluates cases, prepares appeals, and advises clients about procedural options. She handles claim development, post-decision appeals, and matters that require appellate briefing.
Today she operates from Fochler Veterans Law. Her practice serves veterans seeking representation on disability and benefits issues. She represents veterans in appeals of VA benefit claims.
