About Amato
Amato Sanita trained at Western New England University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor. He entered practice after law school and quickly found work in trial-focused public defense. The practical training from law school gave way to hands-on courtroom experience early in his career.
Sanita began his trial work as a supervisor and major trial lawyer at the Defender Association of Philadelphia in 1996. He handled serious felony matters and mentored younger attorneys assigned to major trials. The Defender Association years shaped his approach to criminal cases and trial preparation.
In 2001 Sanita moved into private practice as a shareholder at Freedman and Lorry, PC. He remained there for several years before joining Bagia and Associates as a partner in 2013. Two years later he took on a firm leadership role as managing partner of SKA Law Group, LLC in 2015. That trajectory reflects a career that moved steadily from public defense into leadership positions within private firms.
Sanita is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Connecticut and is also admitted to the Federal Circuit. His bar admissions allow him to handle both state and federal matters. He has been active in local professional organizations throughout his career. He served on the Philadelphia Criminal Inn of Court as a master and member of the executive committee from 2011 through 2015. He has held officer and treasurer roles in the Justinian Society from 2001 through 2015. From 2013 to 2015 he chaired scholarships for OSIA. He was involved with the Former Defenders Association board between 2010 and 2015. He currently serves as an officer and treasurer of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
Colleagues describe Sanita as steady in the courtroom and methodical in case preparation. He has combined years of trial work with managerial responsibilities, moving between roles that required direct client advocacy and those that required overseeing firm operations. His time supervising at the Defender Association and later work as partner and managing partner illustrate a mix of courtroom practice and administrative duties.
Sanita now operates from his office listed as Amato Sanita Lawyer at Law. He continues to handle criminal matters and cases that may extend into federal courts. His current practice focuses on criminal defense and federal court matters.
