About Alyssa

Alyssa Baskam built a path from international studies to the courtroom. She earned a B.A. in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2011. She then completed her J.D. at Emory University School of Law in 2014.

Her academic background gave her a broad perspective on law and policy. At UNC she concentrated on international affairs, then turned to study of domestic legal systems at Emory. The sequence shaped how she approaches client problems: attention to context, layered analysis, practical next steps.

After law school she moved into private practice and became licensed to practice in both Georgia and South Carolina. She joined Butler Law Office, where she took on trial and courtroom responsibilities as well as client counseling. Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and direct in client communication.

Baskam also maintains an active profile in professional organizations. She serves on the executive board of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and on the executive board of the Atlanta Council of Young Lawyers. She is a member of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers. Those roles have put her in the center of discussions about practice development, courtroom procedure, and the needs of newer attorneys.

Her work at the firm combines case development, motion practice, and courtroom appearances. She spends time drafting pleadings and preparing witnesses, and she participates in settlement discussions when they arise. She aims to keep clients informed about options and likely outcomes as a case progresses.

Outside the courtroom she contributes to events and programs run by the groups on whose boards she sits. Her involvement includes organizing panels, mentoring newer lawyers, and helping shape programming relevant to trial practitioners. She has taken part in local bar activities that emphasize skills training and professional networking.

Baskam's career so far is marked by steady involvement in professional life across two states. She lives and practices where state rules and courtroom procedure shape the daily work of representing people and businesses. She practices at Butler Law Office, handling matters in Georgia and South Carolina.
