Alvah Lavar Taylor is an attorney specializing in tax law, with extensive experience in both civil and criminal tax controversies. Taylor earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1978. He has also been an adjunct professor of law at Chapman University School of Law since 2004, teaching Federal Tax Procedure, and was an inaugural member of the adjunct faculty in the Tax LLM Program at the University of California, Irvine.

In recognition of his contributions to the field, Taylor was included in the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for Tax Law and received the V. Judson Klein Award from the State Bar of California in 2004.
