About Allison
Allison Mazzei came to law after a steady climb through political science and public-interest work. She earned a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from Ohio University in 2010, followed by an M.A. in Political Science/American Politics from Ohio University in 2012. Mazzei completed her legal training at American University Washington College of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2017.
Her early post-law school roles placed her in the intersection of disability rights and the courts. In 2017 she served as a law fellow with Disability Rights DC at University Legal Services. The following year she clerked for Magistrate Judges Noel T. Johnson and Katherine Wiedmann at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, a position that exposed her to a steady docket of civil matters and the daily mechanics of courtroom procedure.
Mazzei moved into practice later in 2018 as an associate at The Elder & Disability Law Center. There she worked on matters that reflected the office’s subject areas and built practical skills advising clients and navigating administrative processes. Her time at the center also broadened her exposure to client counseling and case management.
In 2021 she joined SmolenPlevy as an associate and then in 2022 began her current role at Livesay & Myers, P.C. Each move added new responsibilities. Colleagues say she took on file development, motions practice, and courtroom appearances as her caseload evolved. Those positions gave her regular experience in contested proceedings and in preparing records for subsequent review.
Mazzei is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and in Virginia. She is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, which allows her to handle matters beyond the trial level when cases proceed on appeal.
At Livesay & Myers, P.C., Mazzei handles civil litigation matters in state and federal courts. Her current practice centers on representing clients in contested proceedings and preparing cases for trial and appeal.
