About Alison
Alison Dunbar earned her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law. She left law school prepared to build a multi-jurisdictional practice and later secured admission to the bars of Montana, Washington and Idaho. Her legal training at Tulane provided a foundation she would draw on across state lines.
Dunbar’s career has included active participation in local and statewide organizations. Since 2017 she has held a board role with the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association. That involvement has kept her connected to litigation developments and the community of trial lawyers in Idaho. In 2020 she took on a civic leadership role as chair of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, a position she continues to hold.
Her professional path led to the establishment of a practice operating under the name Dunbar Law PLLC. The firm serves clients while she maintains admissions in three neighboring states. She balances the demands of running a small practice with external board duties and chamber leadership. Her work requires navigating different procedural rules and client expectations in each jurisdiction she serves.
Peers and colleagues describe her as engaged in the local legal community. She has been active in the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association’s board since 2017 and has used that platform to participate in continuing education and policy conversations relevant to trial practice. As chair of the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, she has also become a visible figure in local civic discussions and business development efforts.
Dunbar’s practice reflects the geographic spread of her admissions. She draws on courtroom experience and bar participation to represent clients across Montana, Washington and Idaho. She keeps abreast of regional legal trends through association work and local leadership responsibilities. Her approach is steady and pragmatic; she prepares cases with attention to procedural detail and local practice norms.
Outside of formal roles, she remains involved in community activities tied to Sandpoint and the surrounding area. Her work at Dunbar Law PLLC is informed by both professional association involvement and hands-on practice across three state bars. She currently focuses her practice on litigation and client representation across Idaho, Montana and Washington.
