About Ali W
Ali W Latif studied languages before he studied law. He earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Ohio State University in 2012, one in Arabic and the other in Spanish. He went on to Capital University Law School and received his Juris Doctor in 2015. Those academic years produced a lawyer comfortable with different cultures and legal texts in more than one language.
Latif launched his own practice in 2018, forming Latif Law LLC. He built the firm to handle matters that required courtroom experience and close client interaction. A year later he joined Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP as a litigation associate. That move broadened the scope of his work and placed him inside a larger litigation group handling civil disputes in state and federal court.
He holds membership in the State Bar of Ohio and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. The Supreme Court of Ohio has certified him to serve as a guardian ad litem. Those credentials underpin routine tasks such as case filings, evidentiary hearings and representing clients in contested proceedings.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in the preparation of cases. He spends long hours on pleadings, discovery and motion practice. In court he prefers clear, concise argument and careful attention to procedural detail. He has experience across civil litigation matters, and his language skills have been useful when clients or witnesses are more comfortable in Arabic or Spanish.
His career path shows a blend of solo practice and firm work. Running Latif Law LLC required handling intake, client counseling and courtroom appearances. At Shumaker he has worked on matters that demand coordinated teamwork and the resources of a larger firm. That combination has given him a view of how different practices manage caseloads and client expectations.
As of 2026 he maintains active membership in Ohio and is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. He continues to divide his time between litigation and matters that call for guardian ad litem representation, handling civil cases in state and federal court and advising clients who speak Arabic or Spanish as needed in the casework.
