About Alexander William
Alexander William Funk began his academic journey at the University of Delaware, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science. He went on to receive a J.D. from the University of Miami. Those degrees set the foundation for a career rooted in courtroom work and criminal defense.
He practices in Delaware. Over the years he has built a practice that emphasizes trial work. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Delaware Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, both memberships he has held since 2007. In 2013 he was listed as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers Association, a designation he continues to hold.
Funk’s career includes courtroom appearances and trial preparation. He has represented clients in a range of criminal matters in Delaware courts. That work involves investigating facts, advising clients on legal options, negotiating with prosecutors and presenting cases to judges and juries when necessary. He handles the practical tasks that trial work demands, from evidence review to witness preparation.
At Curley & Benton, LLC, Funk practices alongside colleagues who handle criminal and civil matters. The firm provides a setting where he can focus on litigation and case strategy. Funk’s memberships in national and state criminal defense organizations keep him connected to developments in criminal law and trial practice.
Colleagues and opposing counsel describe Funk as thorough in his preparation. He approaches cases with attention to detail. In court he presents arguments and examines witnesses. Outside it he counsels clients on strategy and potential outcomes. His work is built on courtroom experience and professional affiliations rather than promotional claims.
Funk also participates in professional networks that address criminal defense issues and trial advocacy. Those networks include the National Trial Lawyers Association, where he is among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers, and longstanding memberships in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Delaware Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
