About Alan

Alan Taylor built a path to law after an early grounding in the humanities. He earned a B.A. in English from Oglethorpe University in 1990 and later received a J.D. from Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law in 2006. The sequence suggests a period between degrees spent outside formal legal education; whatever he did then, he returned to law school prepared for practice.

He began his legal career in Georgia and has continued to practice in the state. His admission includes the authority to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, so his work spans both trial-level matters and appellate proceedings. Over time he has handled litigation that moves between state courts and federal forums.

Taylor’s caseload reflects the dual nature of such practice. He has taken cases through pretrial phases and into contested hearings. He has also been involved in preparing appellate briefs and presenting arguments to reviewing tribunals. That combination requires attention to procedure as well as to the substance of clients’ claims.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing a record for appeal and pragmatic in trial settings. He tends to emphasize clear legal drafting and careful development of factual records, strategies that are useful whether a matter resolves before trial or proceeds on appeal. He balances courtroom work with the written advocacy that appellate practice demands.

Outside the courtroom, his academic background in English appears to shape how he communicates about cases. Legal writing and precise argumentation are recurring elements of his professional profile. Those skills serve in drafting motions, briefs, and other court filings that aim to be both persuasive and concise.

Throughout his career he has remained based in Georgia and has practiced in venues that require familiarity with both state procedures and federal appellate standards. That mix has influenced how he approaches case preparation and client counseling. He currently practices in Georgia, handling state and federal matters and appearing in proceedings before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
