About Alan
Alan Hamilton is an attorney who built his legal foundation at Auburn University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science, and at the University of Georgia School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 2005. He entered the profession at a moment when federal and state court work were reshaping many practice areas. The path he chose gave him early exposure to the mechanics of federal litigation.
After law school he served as a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. That clerkship placed him inside federal court proceedings and familiarized him with evidentiary issues, pleading standards, and opinion writing. The experience offered a behind-the-scenes view of how judges reason through complex civil matters and manage dockets under heavy pressure.
He later joined Butler, Wooten & Fryhofer, LLP as an associate. In that role he handled litigation matters that required motion practice, discovery management, and client counseling. He worked on cases that moved through both state and federal systems, developing practical skills in drafting briefs and preparing for hearings. Colleagues recall him as methodical in research and clear in courtroom presentations.
Hamilton is admitted to practice in Georgia and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He maintains memberships in a long list of professional organizations, including the State Bar of Georgia, the American Bar Association, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, the Southern Trial Lawyers Association, the National Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice. He also belongs to the Joseph Henry Lumpkin Inn of Court, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and supports the Public Justice Foundation. Those affiliations reflect an interest in both continuing legal education and the procedural aspects of trial work.
Throughout his career he has combined courtroom exposure from his clerkship with hands-on litigation experience as an associate. He has worked on the full life cycle of civil matters, from initial pleadings through dispositive motions. His peers describe him as exacting in preparation and practical in strategy. He has taken part in hearings and appellate procedures within the Eleventh Circuit, applying the procedural knowledge acquired early in his career.
He currently practices in Georgia and appears before the Eleventh Circuit, maintaining an active litigation practice focused on civil matters in those jurisdictions.
