About Ahmad
Ahmad Sulaiman took a path to law that began in politics and markets. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Studies from Loyola University Chicago in 1994 and later returned to the same university for his J.D., awarded in 2002. The mix of public service and private enterprise that appears throughout his résumé traces back to those early years.
Before and during his legal studies, Sulaiman worked in a range of roles that exposed him to business and public affairs. In 1997 he served in constituent services for the office of Senator Richard J. Durbin, a role that involved direct public contact and issue resolution. He moved into the private sector the next year as director of Sulaiman Trading Partners, Inc., and by 2000 he was managing trader at Options Partners, Ltd. Those positions gave him an operational grasp of markets and dispute-prone transactions.
After law school, Sulaiman moved quickly into private practice. In 2003 he became managing partner at the Law Offices of Sulaiman & Associates, L.L.C. That early decision to run a practice put him into the practical work of client representation and firm administration at a formative stage in his legal career.
He combined practice with other professional activities over the next decade. In 2006 he served as principal and head instructor at United Realty Academy, overseeing educational programs. By 2009 he was listed as a senior lawyer at Sulaiman Law Group, Ltd., the same year he joined several professional organizations that align with the subjects he often handles in practice.
Sulaiman holds memberships in the Illinois State Bar and has been a member of the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel since 2009. He also joined the American Bankruptcy Institute in 2009. Those affiliations reflect experience on both sides of consumer-credit matters, bankruptcy-related issues, and civil litigation involving commercial parties.
Since 2017 he has been managing partner at Atlas Consumer Law. In that role he oversees a practice that handles consumer protection matters, creditor-debtor disputes and bankruptcy-related problems, and related civil litigation. He continues to practice in Illinois, where he maintains his bar membership and leads the firm in cases involving consumer and debt issues.
