About Majdi Y.
Majdi Y. Hijazin is an attorney who built his career in Illinois courts and the federal bench that sits in Chicago. He came to law after studying politics. His early academic path suggested an interest in public affairs and the mechanics of government.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from DePaul University in 1999. He then continued his studies at The John Marshall Law School, receiving his Juris Doctor in 2004. Those years provided the foundation for courtroom procedure, legal writing and the daily demands of practice.
After law school he entered private practice and later established his own firm. Over time he took on leadership responsibilities and became the managing partner of the Law Offices of Majdi Y. Hijazin. In that role he oversees the firm’s operations, allocates cases and manages client matters alongside other attorneys and staff.
Hijazin is admitted to practice in Illinois and is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. That dual admission means he handles matters that arise in state tribunals as well as those that require access to the federal courthouse in the Northern District. His work brings the procedural differences between state and federal practice into daily view.
Colleagues describe his approach to casework as methodical and practical. He prepares filings, interacts with opposing counsel and appears where necessary before judges in both venues. He also advises clients on the procedural steps their matters will take, helping them understand scheduling, discovery and court appearances.
Outside the courtroom he manages the business side of a small firm. That includes mentoring junior lawyers, coordinating with administrative staff and making strategic decisions about how the firm handles caseload and client intake. The mix of lawyering and management is a constant part of his professional life.
He has remained based in Illinois through his career. His practice touches matters pursued in Illinois state courts and those brought in federal court for the Northern District. He currently focuses his practice on representing clients in Illinois state courts and in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
