About Adelola Sheralynn
Adelola Sheralynn Dow began her professional journey in classrooms and courtrooms. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Wagner College in 1997 and went on to complete her Juris Doctor at The City University of New York School of Law in 2006. The move from literature to law set the stage for a career that mixes courtroom procedure with client-facing advocacy.
Early in her legal career she served as a law clerk to the Hon. Paul A. Kapalko, J.S.C., at the New Jersey Superior Court in 2006. That clerkship gave her front-line exposure to state court practice and judicial decision-making. In 2007 she worked as a matrimonial associate at the Law Office of Steven P. Monaghan, where she handled family law matters and learned the mechanics of divorce practice. The following year she took a role as an assistant court lawyer for the New York State Unified Court System, an experience that broadened her understanding of court administration and procedure.
Over time Dow moved into private practice. She is listed as the principal lawyer and owner of The Law Offices of Adelola Sheralynn Fields Obalanlege, PLLC. She also operates under the name Dow Divorce Law. Her professional path shows steady movement from clerkship to associate roles to running her own practice.
Admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York, Dow has maintained memberships in state and local bar groups. She has been a member of the New Jersey State Bar since 2006 and joined the New York State Bar Association in 2008. Her local involvement includes the Richmond County Bar Association and the Monmouth County Black Lawyers Caucus, where she has served on the steering committee since 2008. These affiliations reflect regular engagement with peers and ongoing participation in legal community affairs.
Her practice is rooted in family law. She handles divorce proceedings, negotiations over child custody and support, and related matrimonial disputes. She prepares and reviews pleadings, represents clients in hearings, and works on settlement agreements. Clients can expect an attorney who knows courtroom procedure and also spends time on the paperwork and strategy that shape case outcomes.
Dow presents herself as a lawyer accustomed to the practical demands of family litigation. She draws on early judicial experience and years in matrimonial practice to advise clients and press their claims when necessary. She currently operates Dow Divorce Law and The Law Offices of Adelola Sheralynn Fields Obalanlege, PLLC, handling divorce and family law matters in New Jersey and New York.
