About Adam
Adam Flock built a pathway from a liberal arts undergraduate degree to a specialized tax practice. He earned a B.A. in English from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, then took law at the University of Arkansas School of Law, where he completed his J.D. He later pursued an LL.M. in Taxation at New York University School of Law. Those academic stops framed a career that moves between private practice and in-house tax departments.
He began his legal career at Baker Donelson in 2007. That early period was a traditional law firm apprenticeship: research, brief-writing and client counseling. In 2011 he moved into the energy sector as a federal and international tax lawyer at BP. That role expanded his exposure to cross-border transactions and large-scale corporate tax issues. Four years later he joined Sempra Energy as senior tax counsel, handling tax matters for a utility company operating across jurisdictions.
His resume shows a steady shift from associate-level duties to strategic in-house responsibilities and then back to private practice leadership. In 2021 he became a partner at RMP LLP. The partner title reflects years of handling complex tax matters and working inside corporate tax teams. It also reflects the mix of transactional, compliance and planning work that has characterized his career.
Flock is licensed in Tennessee and holds membership in the Tennessee State Bar. That jurisdictional tie fits his current practice base and client network. He has worked on both domestic federal tax issues and international tax questions, bringing experience from major energy companies and from law firm practice. His career has involved tax planning, compliance and counseling for corporate clients, and it has required navigating tax rules that affect multinational operations.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in his approach to tax problems. His time in-house gave him day-to-day exposure to the business consequences of tax decisions, and his firm work required translating those consequences into implementable legal strategies. He has moved between advising boards and negotiating transactional terms, and he understands the often technical nature of federal and international tax law.
At RMP LLP he maintains a practice that draws on both his in-house experience and his law firm background. He represents corporate clients on federal and international tax matters and handles tax planning and compliance work for businesses operating across state and national lines. He currently focuses his practice on federal and international tax issues for corporate clients.
