About Aaron
Aaron Hamrock completed his undergraduate studies at Central College in 1992 and went on to earn his J.D. from Drake University in 1994. He built his legal foundation in Iowa and pursued federal admission as well. He is admitted to practice in Iowa and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Hamrock’s career has threaded through trial and defense work. He belongs to several professional groups that reflect that path. Current memberships include the Polk County Bar Association, the American Bar Association Litigation Section, the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association, and the National College for DUI Defense. He is also a life member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a member of the Legal Committee of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. Those affiliations link him to both criminal defense networks and organizations focused on drug policy and DUI defense.
Over the years he has handled matters in state courts and prepared cases that could involve federal appellate review. His admission to the Eighth Circuit allows him to participate in appeals in that jurisdiction when clients’ cases require it. The combination of trial-oriented associations and appellate admission suggests a practice that moves between courtroom litigation and appellate advocacy when necessary.
Colleagues describe him as an attorney who prefers practical solutions shaped by courtroom realities. He participates in professional forums that address trial techniques, DUI defense strategies, and evolving legal issues around controlled substances and marijuana policy. His membership in the Legal Committee of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws indicates sustained interest in the changing landscape of drug law and its intersection with criminal defense.
Hamrock practices from an office that carries his name. He works alongside other lawyers at McCarthy & Hamrock, P.C., where client matters range across criminal defense and related litigation. He maintains local ties through the Polk County Bar Association and engages in national conversations through the ABA Litigation Section and national defense groups. That mix keeps him connected to both community-level practice and broader professional developments.
He continues to represent clients in criminal and DUI matters, and to handle cases that may proceed to federal appellate review. His current practice at McCarthy & Hamrock, P.C. centers on criminal defense, DUI and drug-related matters.
