About Zachary D

Zachary D Jackson trained first as a business professional before turning to law. He attended Campbell University beginning in 1997 and earned a B.B.A. in Trust and Investment Management and an M.B.A., both completed in 2002. He then went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, beginning in 2004 and receiving his J.D. in 2007. Those classroom years left him with both technical financial knowledge and formal legal training.

He gained admission to the Virginia bar in 2007 and to the North Carolina bar in 2008. Early in his career he moved into private practice and in 2009 opened Zach Jackson Law, where he has served as owner and lawyer since. The firm has been his professional base for more than a decade. Through that work he has handled client matters across two state jurisdictions and navigated the procedural differences between them.

Jackson’s background in trust and investment management shapes how he approaches client problems. He is active in family law circles and has been a member of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Family Law Section since 2008, and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice and its Family Law Section since 2015. That combination of financial training and family law engagement informs his handling of cases that involve division of assets, retirement accounts, business interests and other financial complexities that often arise in family court.

He is also a long-standing member of the Union County Bar Association, joining in 2009. His bar memberships, which include both the North Carolina State Bar and the Virginia State Bar, reflect practice across state lines. Jackson’s peer involvement offers regular contact with local judges, clerks and fellow practitioners. He appears regularly in state courts and works with clients on negotiation as well as litigation strategies when disputes move beyond settlement.

Colleagues describe him as practical and detail-oriented in approach. He balances courtroom preparation with efforts to resolve matters outside of trial when that aligns with a client’s goals. In practice he handles the financial and procedural aspects of family law matters, drawing on his combined education in finance and law. He currently represents clients through Zach Jackson Law, handling family law and related financial matters in North Carolina and Virginia.
