About Zachary

Zachary Cooper began his legal path in the classroom. He earned a J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 2001. Prior to law school he completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Pittsburgh, finishing that degree in 1998.

He moved into practice across two neighboring states. Cooper is a member of both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania bars and has built his professional life around criminal defense work, particularly cases involving impaired driving. He established Zachary B. Cooper, Lawyer at Law, P.C., where he handles client matters and oversees day-to-day practice operations.

Cooper's work reflects a mix of courtroom time and technical training. He holds certifications in Field Sobriety Testing from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and in the Drug Recognition and Evaluation protocol from the same agency. Those credentials inform how he evaluates prosecutions that rely on roadside tests and officer observations.

He has been active in professional organizations that concentrate on drunk and impaired driving defense. Cooper was a founding member of the Pennsylvania Association for Drunk Driving Defense Lawyers in 2013 and of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association in 2014. He has also belonged to the National College for DUI Defense since 2008. Those memberships put him in regular contact with peers who focus on similar casework and evidence issues.

In practice Cooper balances case strategy with hands-on tasks. He prepares motions, represents clients at hearings, and takes selected matters to trial. He pays particular attention to how evidence is gathered and presented in DUI and related matters, drawing on his NHTSA training when assessing breath tests, field sobriety maneuvers, and drug recognition reports.

Clients and colleagues see a lawyer who keeps current on techniques used in impaired-driving prosecutions. He continues to participate in the trade organizations that shaped his professional network. At his firm, Cooper handles a steady docket of criminal and DUI cases and supervises the defense work entrusted to him.

He currently practices through Zachary B. Cooper, Lawyer at Law, P.C., focusing on criminal defense and impaired-driving cases in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
